(Agriculture) with a Second Class (Upper) Honours. majoring in Crop Science from the University of Peradeniya Sri Lanka in 1991. He obtained his M.Phil. degree from Postgraduate Institute of Agriculture, University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka and a Ph.D. from University of Zhejiang, China in Bioactive compounds and functional foods.<\/p>\n After Ph.D. he diverted his research area to bioactive compounds and antioxidant activities of crops and developed research link with Herbal Division, Industrial Technology Institute (ITI) Sri Lanka. Abeysinghe became Head of the Department of Plantation Management in 2012 and Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and Plantation Management in 2016. Currently he is working as the Director of B.Sc. (Plantation Management) External Degree program of the Wayamba University and as the Director of Business Research and Development (BREAD) center, Wayamba University.
