Chandana Abeysinghe graduated with B.Sc. (Agriculture) with a Second Class (Upper) Honours. majoring in Crop Science from the University of Peradeniya Sri Lanka in 1991. He obtained his M.Phil. degree from Postgraduate Institute of Agriculture, University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka and a Ph.D. from University of Zhejiang, China in Bioactive compounds and functional foods.

After Ph.D. he diverted his research area to bioactive compounds and antioxidant activities of crops and developed research link with Herbal Division, Industrial Technology Institute (ITI) Sri Lanka. Abeysinghe became Head of the Department of Plantation Management in 2012 and Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and Plantation Management in 2016. Currently he is working as the Director of B.Sc. (Plantation Management) External Degree program of the Wayamba University and as the Director of Business Research and Development (BREAD) center, Wayamba University. He activity involved in developing University as well as Faculty of Agriculture and Plantation Management by giving leadership to obtain AHEAD grant to the Faculty and by contributing his service as a Coordinator of Quality and Innovative Grant (QIG), a Deputy Coordinator of University Development Grant (UDG) and a Deputy Coordinator of UDG/External Degree.

He contributed lot to develop soft skills of undergraduates of Wayamba University and to develop Wayamba University Incubation Centre (WUBIC) and Business Research and Development (BREAD) Centre as the former Director of Career Guidance Unit of the University.
