Department of Agribusiness Management
overview
Department of Agribusiness Management was established in 1996 as an academic department in the Faculty of Agriculture and Plantation Management with the intention of providing quality education, capable of meeting the career aspirations of graduates and the needs of the local employers. Courses are designed to provide the students an integrated conceptual and empirical framework within which to understand generic areas of agribusiness management and to enhance the students’ ability to evaluate practical business experience from a more academic perspective. We strive to achieve excellence in teaching and research through a wide variety of novel techniques. Our staff works closely with the students to produce research outputs with significant national and global contributions. Equipped with highly skilled staff and a conducive learning environment, we specialize in socio-economic research in a variety of disciplines from agriculture, food, natural resources to health economics. It is expected that awareness will be developed of the changing local and international business environment through industrial placements to provide experience on the real- world basis in which agribusiness operations are organized. Our academic teaching reflects this broad scope and is on par with global standards. We also offer related services to governmental and non-governmental organizations, as well as to corporations and the wider society in various capacities.
