Dr. Wajira Balasooriya, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Biotechnology of the Faculty of Agriculture and Plantation Management (FAPM) participated at the World Microbe Forum held on 20th– 24th June 2021, virtually, organized jointly by the American Society for Microbiology and Federation of European Microbial Sciences with the participation of microbial scientists from over 110 countries. At the forum she presented on “Isolation, Identification and Compiling of Microalgae Species from Aquatic Environments in Sri Lanka”. Dr. Wajira was also an awardee of Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Travel Award that secured her funds for the forum registration.
