The Faculty of Agriculture and Plantation Management (FAPM), Wayamba University of Sri Lanka, officially welcomed its 2024/25 Intake of New Students at a ceremonial Inauguration held on Monday, October 5, 2026, at the Professor H.P.M. Gunasena Auditorium, Makandura Premises.
The ceremony was graced by Prof. E.M.P. Ekanayake, Vice-Chancellor of Wayamba University of Sri Lanka, as the Chief Guest. The occasion was also attended by Prof. Bandara Gajanayake, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and Plantation Management, Mr. W.A.D. Chithrananda, Registrar of Wayamba University of Sri Lanka, the Librarian, Mr. Dushan Bandara, Senior Assistant Registrar (FAPM), the Senior Assistant Bursar, Heads of Departments, academic staff members, new undergraduates, and their parents.
Following the registration of new students, the formal proceedings commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the traditional oil lamp and the University Anthem. Dr. Bandula Ranaweera, Coordinator of the Inauguration Ceremony, delivered the Welcome Address, which was followed by a short video presentation introducing the Faculty and its vibrant academic environment.
The gathering was subsequently addressed by the Registrar, Mr. W.A.D. Chithrananda, the Dean of FAPM, Prof. Bandara Gajanayake, and the Chief Guest, Vice-Chancellor Prof. E.M.P. Ekanayake, who congratulated the incoming undergraduates on their admission and offered guidance on achieving academic and personal excellence during their university life.
An interactive Q&A session provided an opportunity for the new students and parents to engage directly with the university administration and faculty leadership. The formal ceremony concluded with the Vote of Thanks delivered by Mr. Dushan Bandara, Senior Assistant Registrar of FAPM, followed by the National Anthem.
The Faculty extends its warm wishes to the 2024/25 intake for a rewarding and successful undergraduate journey, and expresses its sincere appreciation to the Inauguration Coordinator Dr. Bandula Ranaweera, the organizing committee, and staff members for organizing a memorable event.
