Wayamba University of Sri Lanka is delighted to welcome the newest first-year undergraduates to the Faculty of Agriculture and Plantation Management (2024/2025 Intake)! To kickstart their university journey on an energetic and positive note, an engaging Outbound Training (OBT) program was held for the new entrants on October 8th at the Kuliyapitiya university premises.
Developing Essential Skills Beyond the Classroom
Transitioning into university life is a significant milestone. Recognizing the importance of holistic student development from day one, this dynamic OBT program was thoughtfully coordinated by the university’s Career Guidance Unit.
The training was specifically designed to help our newest agriculture undergraduates step out of their comfort zones, develop critical soft skills, and break the ice with their new peers. Through a series of interactive outdoor challenges, team-building exercises, and leadership activities, students learned the practical value of collaboration, effective communication, and creative problem-solving.
A Strong Foundation for the Future
The Career Guidance Unit continuously strives to empower undergraduates, preparing them not just for academic excellence, but for successful future careers. By hosting this OBT session at the Kuliyapitiya premises, students were provided with an ideal environment to familiarize themselves with the campus atmosphere while building a supportive peer network.
The enthusiasm and teamwork displayed by the students throughout the day were truly inspiring. The bonds formed and the lessons learned during this training will serve as a strong foundation for their upcoming academic endeavors in the dynamic field of agriculture and plantation management.
